HAWTHORN BERRIES (Crataegus laevigata)X

AKA: Haw, Hazels. Huath, May, Mayblossom
Mars - Masculine - Fire
Powers: Fertility, Chastity, Happiness, Fishing Magic
Both flowers and berries are astringent and useful in decoction to cure sore throats. WARNING: Do NOT take if diabetic. May interfere with digitalis (heart) medication.
An herb of fertility, it finds its place in weddings, May Day celebrations, and ritual groves. Beltaine was once reckoned as the day the hawthorn first bloomed. Wands made of hawthorn have great power. Hawthorn protects a house against lightning and storm damage. The Hawthorn is sacred to the fairies.

HEAL ALL (Prunella vulgaris)
AKA: Self Heal, All Heal, Woundwort, Wound Root
Infusion: 1 oz. herb in 16 oz. water produces a general tonic. Infusion may be used for external treatment of wounds, skin irritations and conditions, and scalp conditions. A few drops added to distilled water can be used as a general eyewash and specifically for sties or conjunctivitis. May be made into poltices for external application. The dried herb can be added to soups and stews.

HIBISCUS (Hibiscus sabdariffa)
AKA: Roselle, karkade, sour tea

Powers: Lust, Love, Divination

Uses include an aphrodisiac; soothes nerves; antispasmodic; itchy skin; stomach problems; sweeten breath; attract love/lust; divination; dreams. The blossoms have been used in love incenses and sachets.

Their volatile oil produces sedative and soporific effects, and the Lupamaric acid or bitter principle is stomachic and tonic. For this reason Hops improve the appetite and promote sleep. Used in healing sachets and incenses.
