AKA: Balsam Tree, Bechan, Mecca Balsam

Common Uses: It is used in all cases of jaundice, general debility and biliousness, and for diarrhea.Qualities & Properties: Tonic, purgative, antiseptic. Warning: Not to be used during pregnancy.

AKA: American Dittany, Witches Herb, Balanoi

The scent of basil was said to soothe tempers between lovers. Thought to bring wealth to those who carried it in their pockets; used to attract customers to a place of business by placing over the door; thought to ensure fidelity; strewn on floors to ward off evil or negativity.

BAY (Laurus nobilis)
AKA: Daphne, Laurel, Lorbeer, Noble Laurel

The incense and the leaf are said to produce a prophetic trance. BAYBERRY (Myrica cerifera)
AKA: bayberry wax tree, myrtle, wax myrtle
Astringent and stimulant. In large doses emetic. It is useful in diarrhea, jaundice, scrofula, etc. Externally, the powdered bark is used as a stimulant to indolent ulcers, though in poultices it should be combined with elm. The decoction is good as a gargle and injection in chronic inflammation of the throat, leucorrhoea, uterine hemorrhage, etc. An excellent wash for the gums.

BEE POLLEN (Bee Pollen)
Bee Pollen contains around 50% Protein much of which is in the form of free amino acids. It is also high in the B Complex Vitamins and enzymes. Use: Bee Pollen Granules can be sprinkled on salads for added flavor. They have a slightly sweet taste and a strong flavor so are typically mixed with other foods. It is best to mix into foods after cooking-enzymes are destroyed by heat.

BEESWAX (Beeswax)
2 tablespoons of beeswax melted and add 1/2 cup oil (add some of our Essential Oils for an easy solid perfume or magical ointment). You can always make a solid perfume by adding essential oils for fragrances after removing the wax from the heat, but better yet, first infuse a Carrier Oil with fragrant herbs, strain, then add to melted wax for a subtle, magical unguent or ointment. Pour into little jars or tins and then either leave it alone to harden.

AKA: Horsemint, Bee Balm, Monarda
Feminine - Air
Power: Clarity
Wild Bergamot can be used to bring clarity and good working order to the surface of any situation.

BILBERRY (Vaccinium myrtlillus)
AKA: Whinberry, Trackleberry, Huckleberry
The leaves can be used in the same way as those of Uva Ursi. The fruits are astringent, and are especially valuable in diarrhea and dysentery, in the form of syrup. The ancients used them largely, and Dioscorides spoke highly of them. They are also used for discharges. A decoction of the leaves or bark of the root may be used as a local application to ulcers, and in ulceration of the mouth and throat.

BLACK HAW BARK (Viburnum prunifolium)
AKA: Stagbush, American Sloe
Powerful relaxant of the uterus and is used for dysmenorrhoea, false labor pains as well as in threatened miscarriage. Shown to be useful in reducing blood pressure in hypertension. Anti-spasmodic, nervine, hypotensive, astringent.Warning: Individuals with a history of kidney stones should use this herb cautiously.

BLADDERWRACK (Fucus vesiculosus)
AKA: Cut Weed, Kelp, Sea Oak, Black Tang

Has been used in scrofula, and is thought by some to reduce obesity through stimulating the thyroid gland.It has alterative properties. Warning: Not to be used during pregnancy or while nursing. Therapeutic use is not recommended in hyperthyroidism.

Butcher's broom has vasoconstrictive and anti-inflammatory properties with no toxicity problems when administered correctly. It is also used in the treatment of varicose veins and hemorrhoids.Qualities & Properties: Diuretic and cathartic.

CALAMUS ROOT (Acorus calamus) POISON
AKA: Calamus, Vacha, Bach Agri-turki, Baje

CAT’S CLAW (Unicaria tomentosa)
AKA: Uncaria tomentosa, and Una de Gato
Usually used as a tincture. The tannins in the herb are released only if it is taken in an acidic medium; add a little lemon juice to a quarter-cup of water to which you add the tincture or prepare as a tea. Used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. The herb is also used for stomach ulcers, gastritis, eczema, "break-bone fever," and liver diseases. Recent clinical studies find that the herb is useful for relieving knee pain.

CASCARA SAGRADA (Rhamnus purshiana)
AKA: Sacred Bark Bitter Bark, Yellow Bark

Mild laxative, acting principally on the large intestine.
